Leading dairy company in New Zealand
Dairy Company
Chrome Consulting supported a Global dairy company to upgrade their OpenText Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) and Invoice Capture Center (ICC) solutions. Both VIM and ICC are deemed business-critical 3rd party products. The version of OpenText components the company was running prior to upgrade had reached out-of-life support from the product owner since December 2017. The result of the upgrade was a smooth and successful upgrade through the strong partnership between Chrome and the client throughout the engagement.
Objectives & Scope
Project Requirements
- Upgrade the OpenText Vendor Invoice Management (VIM) solution from version 7.0 to VIM 7.5 SP11 (latest version from June 2020) including the new Business Center (BC) inbound Framework
- Upgrade the Invoice Capture Center (ICC) from version 7.0. to OpenText Vendor Invoice Capture Center 16.3.7.1 (integrates with SAP ANZ) with new installation on two new ICC VIM servers
- Upgrade the solution and ensure that all existing functionalities will still work, including the custom approval method together with the old Chart of Authority. All existing customization was supported and none of the new VIM 7.5 functionality was required as part of the upgrade.
Our Approach
Consistent and regular communication has been the pillar of success for this upgrade project. Pivotal discussions including discovery workshops, weekly stand up and daily defect resolutions facilitated the flow of information between the teams. Chrome Consulting and the client worked hand in hand to complete all prerequisite for each gate review paving the way to a smooth transition to the post go- live stable environment.
Outcome
Another successful project
The client started their own upgrade in the development box back in 2019 but had abandoned it as they were not able to utilise an existing custom approval solution as part of the upgrade. This project faced challenges due to multiple environments that were not aligned at the outset.
During the initial stages of the project some issues were experienced. This helped the team to refine the planning to ensure that the issues did not resurface in the next environment. It was also identified that some training was required for new transactions that were introduced and replaced deprecated transaction.
Through the collaboration of Chrome and the client, a successful and smooth go live was experienced for a complex upgrade with very minor issues. The client was happy with the result and recognized the effort of the lead consultant “Your knowledge and expertise has made a significant difference in achieving the upgrade.”
